FIELD SERVICE

Field Service Technician

Southern California · Onsite printer and MFP support

The opportunity

The Field Service Technician is responsible for keeping customer printers and multifunction devices operating reliably. You will travel to customer locations, diagnose mechanical, electrical, print-quality, connectivity and configuration problems, complete repairs or preventive maintenance, and explain the outcome clearly. Success requires technical curiosity, organized field work and professional customer care—not simply replacing parts.

Key responsibilities

  • Respond to assigned service calls, review available history and communicate arrival timing or schedule changes professionally.
  • Diagnose and repair printers, copiers and multifunction devices using service documentation, diagnostic tools and systematic troubleshooting.
  • Restore equipment to appropriate manufacturer operating, safety and output-quality standards.
  • Install and configure devices, accessories, drivers, network settings, scan destinations and basic print workflows when assigned.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, firmware checks and component replacement to reduce repeat failures.
  • Test device functions and print quality before leaving the customer site; explain completed work and any recommended next steps.
  • Record accurate service notes, meter readings, parts used, failure causes, time and follow-up requirements in the service system.
  • Manage assigned tools and parts responsibly; identify replenishment needs and return defective components as required.
  • Escalate recurring or complex issues with useful diagnostic evidence and collaborate with other technicians on solutions.

What we’re looking for

  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability with a systematic approach to diagnosis.
  • Professional customer communication and the ability to work independently at customer locations.
  • Basic networking knowledge for printer connectivity, drivers, scanning and device configuration.
  • Valid driver’s license, dependable transportation and ability to lift and move service equipment safely.
  • Printer, copier or multifunction-device service experience and manufacturer training are preferred.

What success looks like

High first-visit resolution, accurate service notes, safe and organized field work, and customers who understand what was fixed and what happens next.
